Network Visualization and Vulnerability Detection

Executive Summary​
Network visualization and vulnerability is a process and tools that security professional utilize to help them understand the different security threats and challenges (security holes) to the organization.   By using these tools and procedures, security professionals can start to have a visual diagram to understand where the threat is coming from,  the type of threat,  how does the threat penetrate the organization and when such an incident happened and what type of solutions could be used to prevent a compromise to the assets.
 
There are many tools available for security professional to visualize and understand their network security risks.  This includes both open source and commercial tools.  Open source tools are available across many sites but the best place to start is with Kali Linux.  Inside this distribution kit includes many network visualization tools like NMAP, WireShark, OpenVAS to cite a few.

This section will provide a basic understanding of some of the core concepts associated with network visualization and vulnerability detection.  Examples are provided in a very pragmatic and applied manner using a variety of tools implemented in a virtual lab environment.
